Chocolate Spiders

INGREDIENTS

  • ¼ cup (60 mL) butter
  • 1 bag (300g) marshmallows
  • ½ cup (125 mL) brown sugar
  • I tsp (5 mL) vanilla
  • 6 cups (1.5 L) crispy cocoa flavoured rice cereal
  • Black licorice strips cut into 96 2 inch (50 mm) pieces
  • 24 Ocean Spray® Craisins® Original Dried Cranberries
  • ¼ cup (60 mL) vanilla frosting

DIRECTIONS

TO MAKE SPIDER BASE:

Spray a 10 x 15 inch (25 x 40 cm) jelly roll pan with cooking spray.

Melt butter and marshmallows in a large saucepan over LOW heat, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Add cereal; mix until well coated.

Spread mixture evenly into prepared pan. Cool (about 8 minutes); form mixture into balls (about a half cup (125 mL) each).

TO DECORATE:

Slide 8 small pieces of licorice under each to form the spider legs. Use frosting to “glue” Craisin ® dried cranberry eyes onto spiders.
